History
USF traces its roots back to 1843, when it did business under the name of Frankford Union Mutual Insurance Company. On November 16, 1978, the company was incorporated under the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as Frankford Union Insurance Company, and was a successor to Frankford Union Mutual Insurance Company.
In late 1981, Frankford Union Insurance Company changed its name to UMI Reinsurance Company. Then, on December 31, 1986, the name was changed to Underwriters Management.
On October 18, 1991, the current name, USF Insurance, was adopted.
USF is based in Farmington Hills, Michigan, and effective December 31, 2007, became incorporated under the laws of the State of Michigan.
