Effective November 1, 2009, Ethel Gill joined the USF Underwriting Department as a Senior Underwriter. Ethel has approximately 25 years of experience as an underwriter in various capacities and most recently was an underwriter for the Burns & Wilcox Excess Umbrella unit. She brings a vast array of experience to the USF underwriting team.

A.M. Best has revised the outlook of USF Insurance Company from stable to positive and affirmed their financial strength rating of A- (excellent).
This revised outlook reflects USF’s sustained improvement in operation profitability in recent years within an extremely competitive marketplace. It is the company’s ability to generate favorable underwriting results during the soft market that has aided them in achieving this stronger outlook.
January 5, 2009:
Victoria Insurance Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Michigan-based USF Insurance Company, has changed its name to Cranbrook Insurance Company, effective Jan. 1.
Cranbrook Insurance Company is incorporated in Texas with its headquarters in Farmington Hills, Mich., and is an A.M. Best A-, Class VII-rated property and casualty insurance carrier. The company is licensed as an admitted carrier in 32 states, specializing in professional lines insurance, and is a surplus lines carrier in Michigan and Pennsylvania.
